Welders are required to read and interpret welding specifications in order to establish the correct process to be used, select the correct material and welding equipment and carry out the required preparation of the material for welding. The welding process may be performed manually or using specialist equipment as an automated or mechanised process.
Scaffolder is responsible for activities relating to every aspect of scaffolding such as to erect, maintain and dismantle scaffolding structures and must operate in accordance with approved procedures, drawings and all other relevant international/approved standards. Scaffolders are regularly expected to work at height and utilise manual handling techniques. Whilst the scaffolding connections can be simple, the structures that are produced are often complex and safety critical.
Scaffolding Inspector is to inspect and sign off all scaffolding designs, structures and erections. A Scaffolding Inspector is responsible for confirming the safety and integrity of a structure and its components in a formal manner. Scaffolding Inspectors are regularly expected to work at height on uncertified structures and apply all relevant regulations and codes of practice.
